A great return to learning

9 01 2018

What a lovely day we had today on the first day back after the Christmas break!

In Literacy we looked at the first illustration in our new class book The Iron Man.  We made some great predictions about the main character and used a thesaurus to help extend our vocabulary.

In maths we used counters and pictures to help us learn facts for the 3 times tables.  We also learnt how to represent a calculation e.g. 5 x 3 using a bar model.

In music, we started a new topic looking at Reggae music.  We felt very chilled listening to it!  By the end of the session we learnt to play two different accompaniments on the glockenspiels.  I was amazed with how quickly and competently the children learnt this music.

In French, we started our jungle animals topic.  We learnt the French version of in Incy, Wincy Spider.  Children had great French accents and made links with new words really quickly.  We had a great discussion about French phonics and learnt that both English and French have the prefix ‘re’ which has exactly the same meaning in both languages!

It’s lovely to hear William came home and told you all about it. Thank you for encouraging him to listen to other Bob Marley tracks. We’re going to be continuing working on this next week too!
